Mark your calendars, because you MOOSEn’t forget about MCPT’s MOOSE contest that is coming up!
The MOOSE contest is an awesome way to have fun problem-solving with your friends, while brushing up on your computer skills. Every skill level is welcome and it’s up to you to decide which division of the contest you would like to compete in: junior or senior.
There will be five competitions held throughout the school year, with the first contest on October 16, 2019. It will start at 9:00 am and end at 6:00 pm, but it’s up to you to decide when you would like to begin your contest within the time frame. Once you start, you will be given two and a half hours; however, please note that if you start the contest after 3:30 pm, it will end before your two and a half hours pass.
Registration is now open for all schools until 5:00pm on October 11, 2019! To find more information about the contest and register, visit: https://mcpt.ca/moose/
WLMOJ will now be offering contests for ICS3U students that will allow you to earn up to 5 percent of your ISP course mark.
Each contest will account for up to 1 percent of your mark so make sure you complete at least 5 of them!
Each contest will be three hours long.
You can submit as many solutions as you want and there will be no penalty, as long as you solve the problems by the end of the school day.
Each contest will follow a certain skill in the ICS3U curriculum.
## Taking Input
Some problems will require that you read input. For convenience reasons, we have provided a template that emulates the hsa.Console class from Ready to Program. Please note that it does not support the spacing options of the print or println methods.

In preparation for the upcoming CCC and ECOO contest, we are pleased to offer an online practice round with our judge.
Every month William Lyon Mackenzie C.I. runs an after-school programming contest for students from our school who compete in teams against each other. The contest proved to be an invaluable tool for student’s preparation for programming contests. We have been fortunate to have the Senior contest problems written by past alumni including Reyno Tilikaynen. Reyno is currently a student at Waterloo and also contributed to the problem sets for ECOO 2017-2018 and ECOO 2018-2019 (Regional and Provincial rounds). The junior contest problems have been written by problem writers from Mackenzie’s Computer Programming Team. Writers in both divisions have ample experience with problem writing.
For the month of December, we have decided to open the contest to teams outside of Mackenzie. These teams will compete against each other, separately from Mackenzie’s teams.
The contest will run on December 18, 2018. The contest starts at 9:00:00 and ends at 15:05:00. Teams get two and a half hours from the moment they start. Please note that if you start the contest after 12:35:00, the contest will end before your two and a half hours pass, and you will lose any time remaining in your two and a half hours.
For more details, including rules, scoring, available languages, and how to register, please check the MOOSE tab.
